GTP Headlines Greece-Cyprus Ferry Link Project on Track After Bidding Opens

Bidding is now open for the highly anticipated ferry service that will
link Greece with Cyprus possibly as of May 2021, the Cypriot Deputy Ministry of Shipping announced.
Bids for the selection of a maritime carrier contractor to reinstate the coastal shipping connection between the two countries which was terminated in 2000,
can be made online through to 29 January 2020 at noon.
The value of the tender comes to 15 million euros for 36 months, with a maximum 5 million euros per year in state support.

Greece and Cyprus to be connected with new maritime route

Cyprus and Greece will be connected with a new ferry service, the Cypriot Deputy Minister of Shipping said during a press conference held yesterday in Limassol.
“We are pleased to announce the tender for the selection of a maritime carrier contractor which will carry out maritime passenger transport between Cyprus and Greece”, said Cypriot Deputy Minister of Shipping, Vassilis Dimitriadis.
“After many months of consultations, we have secured the pre-approval from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition”, he stressed.
“With the assurance of the approval of the Council of Ministers for the allocation of the necessary funds for the implementation of this project, the way has now been opened for the conduct of open European competition,” stressed Dimitriadis. ....
