Cyprus officially opens to the tourist markets of over 65 countries, and a new protocol regulating entries into the country comes into effect.
According to the new procedure, arrivals from these destinations will not have to self-isolate themselves after landing, but will have to present one or two negative PCR tests depending on the categorization of the countries.
As of today,
Cyprus applies the European classification of countries in a green , orange and red group, which is based on the coronavirus situation in each of them.
The new protocol gives the necessary stability in travel planning and will allow us to restore the tourism industry, said Cypriot Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios.

Prospective Greece-Cyprus Ferry Service Receives No Bidders

There is no interest in reviving a Greece-Cyprus ferry service at the present time, despite some initial statements on behalf of several companies when the idea was floated in February of 2020, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Cypriot Shipping Ministry.
No offers whatsoever were received by the Cypriot government after they opened the bidding process in December, according to the statement released late today.
January 29 was the date of the official closing of the bidding process for the potential ferry service.
Last year, the Greek authorities gave the green light for the reintroduction of a ferry connection between mainland Greece and Cyprus, a line that had not been in operation since 2000.

Cyprus and Greece will be connected with a new ferry service, the Cypriot Deputy Minister of Shipping said during a press conference held yesterday in Limassol.
“We are pleased to announce the tender for the selection of a maritime carrier contractor which will carry out maritime passenger transport between Cyprus and Greece”, said Cypriot Deputy Minister of Shipping, Vassilis Dimitriadis.
“After many months of consultations, we have secured the pre-approval from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition”, he stressed.
“With the assurance of the approval of the Council of Ministers for the allocation of the necessary funds for the implementation of this project, the way has now been opened for the conduct of open European competition,” stressed Dimitriadis.
