Alamance County protest cases keep moving through the courts


Verdicts and dispositions
Alamance News reporter Thomas Murawski s charge of resisting a public officer was dismissed – he was arrested Oct. 31 while taking photos of Graham Police clearing Court Square during the I Am Change march.
Cary Kirk Griffin was convicted of two counts of resisting a public officer and one count of second-degree trespass.
Elizabeth Duford was found not guilty of resisting a public officer.
Avery Markel Harvey was convicted of disorderly conduct by impeding traffic, but not guilty of resisting a public officer.
Rikeah Nashea Johnson was not guilty of resisting a public officer.

Wellington cycle campaigners have welcomed today’s decision by the city council to spend $224million on cycleways over the next ten years. “I’m overjoyed,” said Cycle Wellington spokesperson Patrick Morgan.
“The people have spoken, and our Council is taking action.”
“Our dream for a connected network of attractive cycle lanes within ten years is becoming real.”
He says bike lanes are climate action.
“Full credit to the Wellington Council for following up their climate emergency declaration with a commitment to make our streets bike-friendly.”
“Lots of people in Wellington want to cycle, but need protection on busy streets.” ....

More pop-up bike lanes to come until cycling safety improves - advocate


Yesterday, the Cycling Action Network installed a makeshift bike path on one of Wellington s busiest roads into the city. 
The bike lane was made from a series of homemade wooden planter boxes to separate cyclists from motorists. 
Wellington City Council quickly disassembled the cycleway yesterday afternoon by moving the wooden boxes onto the path, but this morning volunteers from the cycling group simply moved them back. 
The activists took their planter boxes away again later in the morning, but Cycling Action Network spokesperson Patrick Morgan said they were not finished with them.
We can build these pop-up bike lanes anywhere, today we re back in Berhampore, next week who knows where we ll be, Morgan said. ....

Stand-off between Wellington City Council and cyclists over unauthorised Wellington pop-up cycleway

Those for the cycleway to Brooklyn ask for people to give it a fair shot, but the community is already divided.
A standoff is emerging at Wellington’s newest, unauthorised, cycleway.
Cycle Wellington spokesman Patrick Morgan said a group installed the bike lane on Monday morning on Adelaide Rd between Island Bay and Berhampore.
Wellington City Council confirmed it was sending contractors to remove it due to safety concerns.
