'Remember + Rise' Tulsa Race Massacre centennial event canceled

Free tickets to Remember & Rise at ONEOK Field were all spoken for less than 30 minutes after they became available online.
We are disappointed in this last-minute change, but there is still so much to look forward to this weekend and we are still so proud of the work of the Commission over the past five years, Phil Armstrong, project director for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission, told The Oklahoman.
I hope you’ll join us at the Candlelight Vigil, at the Pathway to Hope, at one of the many great events other community organizations are hosting, and of course at Greenwood Rising. Thank you so much for your support and I look forward to seeing you in Greenwood this weekend. ....

What Shaun Donovan knows about housing

SHARE:
Near the end of an endorsement interview with Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Shaun Donovan, New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay asked if he knew the median sales price of a home in Brooklyn. He guessed $100,000, which is off by a factor of nine. Donovan, in an email to the newspaper the next day, said he misunderstood the question as referring to assessed value for property taxes, which is a much lower figure.
Getting that answer so outrageously wrong would be embarrassing for any mayoral candidate, but it’s especially embarrassing for Donovan, the former U.S. secretary of Housing and Urban Development and one-time housing commissioner in New York City.  ....

Lawmakers work some magic to exempt Disney+ from social media crackdown

TALLAHASSEE –  Gov. Ron DeSantis distanced himself this week from a carve-out for entertainment giant Disney in his crackdown on social-media companies that block users from their platforms.
Lawmakers stuck a provision into the bill aimed at keeping the Disney+ streaming service from getting “caught up” in the measure (SB 7072), which is aimed at tech giants such as Facebook and Twitter.
“I think there were concerns about things that I didn t quite think that bill was even going to impact,” DeSantis told reporters Tuesday.
“At the end of the day, that s just how this process works sometimes,” DeSantis continued. “But no, that s not what we want to see. We want to see it apply to the people that are offending right now. And we want to be able to give people the ability to defend their rights if they get censored.” ....
