Bistro Royale in Beaverton uses robots, call buttons and remote payments to reduce contact during COVID-19.
At Bistro Royale in Beaverton, you can thank Milo for bringing and taking away your food by pushing his buttons.
Most servers wouldn t like that, but Milo is different some might call him futuristic.
The restaurant, located at 12655 S.W. First St. in Beaverton, uses autonomous robots like Milo to limit contact between staff and customers.
People have reacted favorably to Milo, said Kalvin Myint, who is a co-owner of Bistro Royale. The restaurant began using the robot last August.
I love to actually play with all these new technologies, said Myint. So, when we were looking for a solution, in terms of providing a safer dining experience, my tendency is actually to lean towards technology and see what s available out there. ....

College student starts business
Jackson Hole native Peter Frank is on his way to becoming a serial entrepreneur and he’s still in college.
He and University of Denver classmate Nate Vance have launched a business to produce artisan tableware and other products through a combination of 3D printing and traditional processes and then use their profits for social benefit.
Called Buonaforma, the business got off the ground with a series of limited-edition ceramic vases available at BuonaForma.com.
Another company that Frank started offered 3D prototyping and also used 3D printing to create plastic figurines in original designs and also commissioned pieces. People liked the designs, Frank said, but weren’t enthusiastic about plastic and wanted to know if he could work with higher-end materials. ....

EIT hospitality graduates Ethyn Georgetti-Brown and Ti-Keala Myers recently landed their dream jobs at Black Barn Bistro in Havelock North.
Ethyn completed a NZ Certificate in Bakery (level 4) followed by a NZ Diploma in Cookery Patisserie (level 5), and won the top student award both years. In December, he took on the role as pastry chef at Black Barn Bistro. Ti-Keala recently joined the team after finishing her level 4 Certifi ....
