1/1 MORE than 100 Southampton care home residents with coronavirus have died in under a year, data has revealed. New figures from the Care Quality Commission have shown that between April 10, 2020, and March 31, 2021, a total of 123 death notifications involving Covid-19 were recorded at 21 of the city s care homes. Following the data s release, CQC bosses have called for consideration and respect to be shown to those living in care homes, as well as families and staff affected by loss. The South East proved to be one of the highest areas for deaths involving the virus in care homes as the CQC s data shows 7,404 death were recorded in the 11 month period.

The province announced an annual increase in spending of $8 million to replace or renovate seven long-term care homes.(CBC)
Nova Scotia is adding hundreds of new long-term care beds and spending millions more on renovating or replacing seven long-term care homes.
The plan will add 236 long-term care beds in the central health zone and replace hundreds of others across the province, Premier Stephen McNeil announced Friday. Our loved ones in long-term care deserve high-quality care in safe and comfortable environments and it is my hope that these changes will better serve the residents, their families and staff, McNeil said.
