The Spotlight Lounge is seeking a bar and grill license for the location which was formerly the Downtown Grill & Venue. (Brendan LaChance, Oil City)
CASPER, Wyo. The Casper City Council voted in favor of granting a bar and grill license to the Spotlight Lounge on Tuesday, August 3.
The council voted 6-1 in favor of the business’s request with Council member Steve Cathey voting no. Council member Amber Pollock abstained from the vote. Council member Khrystyn Lutz was absent.
The Spotlight Lounge wants the bar and grill licenses for 128 East Second St., the former location of the Downtown Grill & Venue where they plan to open in the next couple of weeks. ....

UW looks to eliminate 75 staff, close departments under plan to slash $13M/yr in expenses

CASPER, Wyo. The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees will be considering a proposal that aims to slash over $13 million in annual expenditures, UW announced Tuesday.
That could mean eliminating up to 75 faculty and other staff positions, including up to ten department heads. UW President Ed Seidel’s administration is also proposing eliminating and restructuring multiple programs.
“Programs that are not discontinued or reorganized, including UW-Casper, would receive a 3 percent budget reduction,” UW says. ....
