That seems to wrap up the past month or so for me, thanks to the telephone for the Brunswick Area Historical Society. About a week ago, the phone rang. It was Marjorie Hay Thompson calling from Virginia and she had just discovered a packet of papers among items from her parents, Walter and Twyla Hay. They were marked “Important church papers passed down to Twyla Hay.” Walter and Twyla were very involved at First Christian Church until they passed away. Marji wondered if the historical society was interested. I explained we had an amazing collection from the church, which was sold to Tri-C last year, ending the congregation’s 184 years in Brunswick. ....
Mayor Hanwell updates Medina council on courthouse project Alyssa Alfano, cleveland.com MEDINA, Ohio Mayor Dennis Hanwell provided City Council and the community with an update about the city’s courthouse project during Monday’s Finance Committee meeting (Jan. 25). Hanwell had earlier spoken with Medina County Commissioner Bill Hutson, County Administrator Scott Miller and Medina Municipal Court Judge Gary Werner about the possibility of moving the municipal court into the 1969 building on the east side of Public Square. “When I met with Judge Werner individually and asked if he would be willing to consider if the 1969 building could be renovated on the square moving the Municipal Court operation over there, there were three qualifications that he said would need to be met for him to agree to it,” Hanwell said. ....

Then, I received a message from Ohio History that provided some interesting perspective. These two paragraphs were of most interest to me, and I wanted to share them: “In this tumultuous and unpredictable time, it is our responsibility as historians to confront disinformation and propaganda that threatens our democracy.
