SIOUX FALLS – Pierre Governor boys basketball was again beaten handily by O’Gorman on Saturday on the road, this time in a AA SoDak 16 game, 71-41. A week earlier, also in Sioux Falls, O’Gorman had beaten Pierre 65-38 in the final regular-season game.
Pierre (7-13) was led by 20 points from Lincoln Kienholz. Jackson Edman added 13.

PIERRE – Pierre Governor boys basketball, just after being routed by O’Gorman on the road to end the regular season, must return to the Sioux Falls school for the SoDak 16.
Pierre will face O’Gorman again this Saturday for a 2:00 PM game. Last Saturday in Sioux Falls, the Knights topped the Governors 65-38 as O’Gorman post player Eddie Meylor dominated with 20 points and 19 rebounds. Bennett Dean scored 12 points on four three-pointers for Pierre.
The Governors are 7-12, while O’Gorman is 14-6, having ended the regular-season on an eight-game winning streak.

RAPID CITY – Pierre Governor boys wrestling stands fourth in Class A after the first round of SDHSAA State Wrestling at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
Brandon Valley and Watertown share the lead after the first day of individual competition with 35 points. Defending champion Rapid City Stevens is third with 28 points, followed by the Governors’ 25.
Nine Pierre wrestlers advanced to Friday’s quarterfinal matches. Blake Judson won his first-round match at 126 pounds, with Kahlor Hindman winning at 132, Hayden Shaffer at 138, Tyson Johnson at 145, Deegan Houska at 152, Gavin Stotts at 182, Jacob Larson at 195, Regan Bollweg at 220 and Preston Taylor at 285. Judson, Bollweg and Taylor had pins. Shaffer and Houska won by major decision. The others won by decision.
