PIERRE – Pierre Governor boys basketball took advantage of turnover-prone Sturgis and routed the Scoopers Tuesday at the Riggs High Gym, 79-31.
Lincoln Kienholz led the Governors with 20 and Jackson Edman scored 18. Pierre (2-5) led by 15 at halftime, then outscored Sturgis 43-10 in the second half.
This is the first time that the Governors have beaten an opponent by at least 40 points since an 80-39 win over Douglas in Box Elder on February 18, 2006.

PIERRE – Stevens used a big second quarter to defeat Pierre Governor girls basketball Friday at the Riggs High Gym, 59-40, Pierre’s second straight loss.
The Raiders outscored the Governors 24-5 over the first six and a half minutes of the third quarter to expand their lead from one point to 20. Pierre (3-3) cut the lead to 12 points in the third quarter, but Stevens pulled away again, leading by as many as 24 in the fourth quarter.
Remington Price scored a team-high 13 for the Governors, with four three-pointers. Caytee Williams scored 12 points with eight rebounds. For Stevens, Grace Ellis scored 14 and Jayda McNabb added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

RAPID CITY – Shooting for Pierre Governor boys basketball struggled again Friday in a 53-40 loss to Stevens at Carold Heier Gym.
Pierre (1-4) shot just 34 percent from the floor and made only one of 16 three-point attempts. Also, the Governors were just 5-of-15 on free throws.
Lincoln Kienholz led Pierre with 15 points. Jordan Eberlein scored 15 for Stevens.

PIERRE – Pierre Governor girls basketball rallied for a 46-45 win over Rapid City Central Saturday at the Riggs High Gym.
A 9-0 run in the third quarter sent the Governors to a nine-point lead before Central scored the next 13 points. Then, Pierre scored 10 straight, including a three-pointer by Hannah Sazue with just over two minutes remaining that gave Pierre (4-4) the lead to stay. Remington Price scored 16 for the Governors and hit three three-pointers. Caytee Williams scored 11. Jordon Heckert led Central with 16.
