A popular stop for travellers since the 17th century


BACK in the 17th century, when weary travellers were heading across the moors on horseback, Dick Hudsons was a welcome haven.
Through the centuries, the landmark inn has continued to serve ale and hearty fare to those making the journey from Bingley, across Rombalds Moor, to Ilkley.
As popular now as it was then, the pub, on Otley Road, High Eldwick, is back open for business, to the delight of staff and customers alike.

Cllr Sally Birch backs district It's Worth Talking About groups | Bradford Telegraph and Argus


A NEWLY-elected councillor has backed mental health support groups being set up for women across the Bradford district.
In March 2020, a new peer support group, It’s Worth Talking About, was set up in Keighley by Ryan Anderton and Andy Clements.
Initially set up to support men’s mental health through weekly meetings, the demand was so great for mental health support that support groups for women were added and new groups have been created in Bingley, Haworth, Wilsden, Shipley, Silsden and Crossroads with more new groups in the pipeline.
It also coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week, which starts today. ....

Student Samee set for Pentagon trip after cyber security final | Bradford Telegraph and Argus


A STUDENT from the Bradford district is set for a trip to NASA and the Pentagon after winning the final of a national cyber security challenge.
Samee Ullah Malik, 18, of Heaton, was part of a winning four-person team made up of students from across the UK taking part in CyberCenturion VII.
His team came together virtually from Bristol and Potters Bar to claim first prize. In the final, the students had to identify potential vulnerabilities in the space engineering IT infrastructure of fictional company New Gen to show their technical skills and win the competition.
The virtual final saw Samee s side beat off competition from 14 other finalist teams to seal an all-expenses paid trip to the US Northrop Grumman facility, including a visit to the Pentagon, which is the headquarters building of the United States Department of Defense, and the NASA space research facility, when travel restrictions allow. ....

National Offer Day: 91% get first choice primary school in Bradford | Bradford Telegraph and Argus


91 per cent of families received their first choice primary school in Bradford on National Offer Day
MORE than 90 per cent of parents in Bradford have secured their first choice primary school for the new school year in September, following National Offer Day yesterday.
Bradford Council s admissions team offered 91 per cent of applicants their first choice, a two per cent rise from last year.
The percentage who received their first or second choice also increased to 96 per cent, and for one of their top three selections the number was 97.5 per cent.
Parents and carers found out their allocated school yesterday online or were sent letters in the post which are being delivered first class. ....
