Personal trainer completes 100-day running challenge

PERSONAL trainer Chris Sutcliffe has raised over £1,000 for charity after setting himself a daily running challenge for 100 consecutive days.
The 33-year-old did a 10k every day for 50 days straight, completed a half marathon on day 51, an Ultramarathon on day 52 and has continued to run every day for 100 days.
His efforts were in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, a charity that assists people suffering from dementia or any other similar illness.
Mr Sutcliffe, 33, is currently based in Leeds, but grew up in the Riddlesden area and attended Bingley Grammar School.
With having both family and friends still based in the city, he maintains a strong link with the area. ....

Woman's canal death ruled an accident

An inquest into the death of Lucy Grace Spafford, 34, was held virtually at Bradford Coroners’ Court.
She was recovered from the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, near Bingley, on Wednesday, November 25 last year.
Her death sparked an outpouring of grief from those who knew her.
“She was just a bright star and was everyone’s best friend,” said Lucy’s mum, Maggie Garratt, in a tribute last year, and she added: “She was artistic, funny, witty, but she never thought that much of herself, she was always thinking of other people.”
In a statement, she told the hearing how her daughter was a “very special person who everyone loved so much” and she was the “kindest person you could ever wish to meet”. ....

A WOMAN who “everyone loved” tragically died in an accident after losing her footing on the barge where she lived, a coroner ruled.
An inquest into the death of Lucy Grace Spafford, 34, was held virtually at Bradford Coroners’ Court yesterday.
She was recovered from the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, near Bingley, on Wednesday, November 25 last year.
Her death sparked an outpouring of grief from those who knew her.

New mental health support groups for Silsden and Wilsden

A KEIGHLEY-based mental health support group is expanding across the district.
It’s Worth Talking About is launching male and female groups in Silsden and Wilsden – and an online facility.
The move comes after an upsurge in interest around the group s services – particularly following the death last month of a young rugby player, 21-year-old student Alex Barusevicus.
Mickey Hurley – secretary and coach at Silsden Storm amateur rugby league club, which runs teams from junior level to open age – contacted It’s Worth Talking About regarding the possibility of creating what he described as much-needed support for both men and women in the community. ....
