Crime Correspondent A 46-year-old man has been jailed for life for the murder of his estranged wife s partner almost two years ago. Anthony Paget of Carnlough Road, Cabra in Dublin, stabbed Aidan McMenamy seven times after his victim became jealous and attacked him at Clinch s Court, North Strand Road, Dublin on 19 July, 2019. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter but a jury found him guilty of murder. Mr McMenamy s family told the court today they would never recover and never forgive Paget for what he had done. Paget wrote a letter of apology, which was read out in court, and said he was deeply sorry and would try to use his sentence to pray that the family get some closure. ....

Liffey Sweeper Launched to Clean Dublin s Waterways By Mike Gilmore A new river cleaning vessel has been launched by the Irish Nautical Trust. The Liffey Sweeper is designed to gather up large amounts of debris from the city s waterways. Part of the River Liffey Cleaning Project, the vessel will collect waste such as bottles, plastic and cans. The vessel, will operate four days a week, gathering waste from the Liffey at Butt Bridge all the way down to the mouth of the river at Clontarf, including areas around Dublin Port. It s design allows it to collect rubbish just beneath the surface of the water along with any floating items such as plastic, all of which is funneled into a cage before being removed and sorted for recycling and waste management. ....
