(KEYC) - The Blue Earth County Historical Society is helping folks learn more about their family history. Each month, the group invites the public to participate in a free informal genealogy chat via Zoom. Each chat invites folks to explore their ancestors, trace their family tree and utilize their research center. A few weeks ago, the organization launched a new online research index for people in any location to search lists of births, obituaries, wills and other records. You can even place an order to have their loved one’s records emailed to them.

(KEYC) The Blue Earth County Historical Society invites the public on a tour of local historical sites from the comfort of your couch. Watch through Zoom to explore past and present photos and stories of the 12 nationally registered historic places in Mankato. “We’re going to cover all the properties, a little bit about who lived there, requirements that it met to get on the national registers and just what it is now. Some are being used as private residences, some have turned into businesses,” BECHS Communications Manager Heather Harren explained.

BECHS Seeking Board Candidates By Ashley Hanley|2021-01-14T11:15:26-06:00January 14th, 2021| The Blue Earth County Historical Society is currently seeking candidates to fill open seats on the Board of Trustees beginning March 2021.  Monthly board meetings are held the 4 th Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.  All openings are for a three-year term ending March 2024. Applications are due by January 31, 2021 to the History Center. The Board consists of members representing Blue Earth County and is currently seeking individuals strong in one or more of the following areas: financial management, business management, development and/or fundraising.  Previous non-profit Board experience preferred, but not required.
