MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - A local women and minority-owned nonprofit aims to infuse equity into the community.
Briana Williamson and Dr. Kelly Meier, founders of Kinect Education Group, which works with educational institutions on achieving equity and inclusion are now also working with community members and leaders to discuss the impact of bias, hate crimes and racism in our society.
“The equity network allows us to have those tough conversations, those courageous conversations we need to have as a community,” said Williamson.
Update on County State Aid Highway 57/Riverfront Drive and US Highway 14 Detours

Project work on County State Aid Highway 57/Riverfront Drive and U.S. Highway 14 is underway. During this project, motorists are encouraged to follow the detours that have been put in place. It’s recommended to avoid using Industrial Road (County Road 26) between Third Avenue and North Riverfront Drive because this crossing is used by the railroad as part of its normal operations, and based on that use, there may be further delays.
Community members’ patience is appreciated as work continues. Once the project is complete, benefits include improved pavement, enhanced traffic flow and pedestrian accommodations, and safety. Completion is expected by late August 2021 (weather permitting). The project is a partnership between the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Blue Earth County and the City of Mankato.
Multiple construction projects to begin May 3 in greater Mankato area

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) With the sun shining and the weather looking up, it means outdoor activities, fun in the sun and construction season for Minnesota.
Starting May 3, the area is going to see some changes. One of which is a pair of roundabouts on Riverfront Drive on both sides of the Highway 14 overpass.
Blue Earth County Public Works, the City of Mankato and the Minnesota Department of Transportation are all involved with the project.
“The county and the city were able to go after some outside funding to assist with the state share of the program through the Minnesota Department of Transportation Partnership Program,” said Ryan Thilges, engineer and public works director for Blue Earth County.
