Dr. Bradford Langenfeld was on duty at Hennepin County Medical Center the night Floyd was brought in after being restrained by police last May, and testified Monday at the trial of one of the officers. ....

According to Lim, at least 2,300 people have been served through their pop-up clinics. “We really are the first time that people actually try out these healing modalities. And that s a huge responsibility. We love it because people realize that this can really be healing for them,” Lim said. ....
TEXARKANA, Texas Texarkana police have issued a warning about deadly street drugs after a woman died of an overdose and her boyfriend was hospitalized. Officers issued the warning after finding the 25-year-old woman dead in a home on Apache Trail. Her 27-year-old boyfriend was treated with three doses of Narcan before being taken to an area hospital, where police said he was fighting for his life.  Police believe the couple took some street level narcotics laced with fentanyl or some other deadly product. We think they were talking about opioids, oxycontin, something like that. . That s what they thought they were buying, but they wound up with something that may just like it, but it s laced with something else that s a dangerous and could kill you, said police spokesman Shawn Vaughn. ....
Substance abuse continues to be a major issue in the region and it’s one that has seen its own complications over the past year. Alarmingly, there have been a couple recent spikes in overdoses reported in Broome County while reports of substance abuse have been on the increase. Getty Images This week on the regular, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, Broome County Public Health Director Rebecca Kaufman talks about the problem, how the pandemic has impacted addiction disorders and what people can do to help. Kaufman says people struggling with substance abuse issues and their family and friends have found themselves left without the regular support services like counseling and peer group interaction due to the pandemic. In addition, isolation and depression have intensified many of the underlying drivers of the use of alcohol and medications. ....
