Inspired by her immigrant mother’s struggles with the health care system, UCSF medical student Bernadette Lim created Freedom Community Clinic in 2019, a health and healing service that brings traditional holistic healing methods such as acupuncture, massage and Reiki to Black, brown and indigenous communities in the Bay Area. According to Lim, at least 2,300 people have been served through their pop-up clinics.
“We really are the first time that people actually try out these healing modalities. And that s a huge responsibility. We love it because people realize that this can really be healing for them,” Lim said. ....

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Ian Brock was fascinated by computers and mathematics at a very early age. He taught himself programming, leaving school in the eighth grade to study independently. The young African American man also became aware that members of ethnic minorities were not broadly encouraged to enter technological professions, and so, at the age of 12, he founded Dream Hustle Code, an organization that teaches coding and other skills to members of underserved and underprivileged communities: “We focus on students who are underrepresented in the tech industry African Americans, Latinos, and Girls to ensure that Computer Science is truly for All,” he writes. “We believe that proper access to Computer Science Education is a Civil Right and one that we continue to fight for.” Hundreds of students of all ages have passed through the online academy’s virtual doors, and Ian has been featured in many magazine articles an ....

Nile Rodgers We Are Family Foundation (WAFF) created the Youth To The Front Fund (YTTFF) to support and fund under 30-year-old BIPOC-centered youth activists, youth-led organizations, projects, innovations and creative solutions that are at the forefront of fighting systemic racism, inequality and injustice in the United States and around the world.
Initially funded by the WAFF Board of Directors, Walton Family Foundation and SAP joined the effort, funding USA and global grantees respectively. YTTFF is not a one-off response to George Floyd’s murder and the subsequent global outrage, but rather an ongoing sustainable commitment.
WAFF is proud to announce the inaugural YTTFF “Frontliner” grantees, representing 7 states in the USA and 10 countries on 4 continents. Carefully selected and curated from hundreds of applicants, these twenty (20) Frontliners, aged 13 – 28 years-old are fighting racial and systemic injustice by co ....
