Over 100,000 counterfeit N95 masks seized at airport

Stacey Sager reports on lthe ink that was erroneously shared to the public and put out on social media. Officials say the counterfeit N95 masks are dangerous because they could end up in healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. Since the masks are counterfeit, they may not work properly. Allowing counterfeits like these to reach the public or our healthcare heroes is a risk we cannot take, said Customs and Border Protection Director Troy Miller. More than 14 million counterfeit face masks, as well as 180,000 FDA-prohibited COVID-19 test kids and tens of thousands of FDA-prohibited pharmaceuticals, have been seized since the beginning of the pandemic.

COVID NYC Update: Lenox Hill Hospital workers get goodie bags of appreciation

The ColdSnap appliance can make single-serve cups of ice cream or frozen margaritas in under 90 seconds. It was unveiled at the all-virtual CES this week. Wagner and Melissa Rosenbloom run Gourmet Advisory. We met them last March as they initially felt the pinch of the pandemic. And save for a few micro events this summer, their business remains decimated. And yet, they and their vendors wanted to host the event to thank their local hospital. How they get up every day and go into work, this is their mission, Rosenbloom said. We hope this gives them one little bit of happiness and so they know they re appreciated.

COVID NYC Update: Mount Sinai cancels vaccine appointments as supply runs low

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) Vaccine supply is stretching thin across several hospitals in New York City, causing some to cancel or stop scheduling new appointments. Mount Sinai Hospital said it canceled public vaccination appointments from Friday, January 15, through Tuesday, January 19, due to supply shortages. A spokesperson with Mount Sinai said the hospital will inform patients when more supplies become available and reopen vaccination appointments for eligible patients. For those who have appointments scheduled after Tuesday, Mount Sinai said it will provide updates as it knows more. NYU Langone is no longer scheduling new appointments due to their supply constraints.

COVID NY Update: After court ruling, parts of New York can resume indoor dining -- but not NYC

That distinction prompted the NYC Hospitality Alliance to put out a statement: The court s preliminary decision and the Governor s action to remove indoor dining restrictions in all orange zones makes the status of the indoor dining ban in New York City all the more outrageous and destructive to thousands of restaurants across the five boroughs, especially when our infection and hospitalization rates are lower than most counties in the State where indoor dining is permitted at 50% occupancy. Continuation of the indoor dining ban in New York City is divorced from any of the data and criteria the State has articulated and must be ended now.
