Statewide scheduling confusion
On Thursday, the state said the now-cancelled vaccination appointments at the former Audelicious and five other sites were made after an “unauthorized” link was shared on social media this week. The other sites included a Binghamton University property in Johnson City; the University at Buffalo South Campus; Plattsburgh International Airport; SUNY Potsdam and Stony Brook University on Long Island.
None of those sites were accepting appointments yet, leading to the cancellations.
On Friday, state officials said about 22,000 appointments were nullified, with about 20,000 of them at Stony Brook, 1,500 in Utica and 800 in Binghamton. It has come to our attention that an unpublished scheduling link was shared without authorization on social media this week, said Marcy Stevens, general counsel for the state Office of Information Technology Services, in a statement Thursday night.

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) Vaccine supply is stretching thin across several hospitals in New York City, causing some to cancel or stop scheduling new appointments.
Mount Sinai Hospital said it canceled public vaccination appointments from Friday, January 15, through Tuesday, January 19, due to supply shortages.
A spokesperson with Mount Sinai said the hospital will inform patients when more supplies become available and reopen vaccination appointments for eligible patients.
For those who have appointments scheduled after Tuesday, Mount Sinai said it will provide updates as it knows more.
NYU Langone is no longer scheduling new appointments due to their supply constraints.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, Long Island (WABC) New Yorkers who thought they had made an appointment for a COVID vaccine at Stony Brook University Hospital were shocked to learn their appointments had been suddenly canceled, apparently do to a mistakenly published link.
The general counsel for the Office of Information Technology Services said the unauthorized scheduling link was published this week.
The governor s office said it was a legitimate, internal link that was erroneously shared to the public and put out on social media, so people who had the link had unfair advantage that others didn t.
The link not only affected residents on Long Island, but across New York State.
