Search Continues for Suspect in Montgomery Teen Shooting; Friends and Family Mourn

Alabama News Updated: The search continues for the person who shot and killed a Montgomery teen and as the investigation moves forward, the family and friends of 17-year-old Leiah Holmes mourn her loss. Holmes was left in critical condition after being shot Monday. Police were called to the 4200  block of Delmar Drive at about 3:00 PM. She was taken from the scene to a nearby hospital where she later died. Just a rising senior at Alabama Christian Academy, she was considered to many as a beloved student, teammate, and friend. Greg Glenn ACA Head of School hopes to stand beside the Holmes family as they go through this difficult time.

Search Continues for Stevens Point Police Chief After Candidate Declines Offer

By Mike Leischner Stevens Point Police STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Stevens Point Police and Fire Commission has announced that an offer made to one of the candidates for the city’s vacant Chief of Police was declined. Brent Plisch, the current Assistant Chief of Police with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department, was offered the position but withdrew his application in a letter to the Commission late last week. Plisch did not elaborate on his reasons for declining the position, only saying the reasons were “complex.” In a statement, Police and Fire Commission President Gary Wescott said that they would pause the search “for a few months to evaluate the civic environment before initiating a new search for Police Chief. Wescott added the pause would allow the city to re-establish itself as a place that will attract the “best and brightest progressive law enforcement minds.”
