SAN DIEGO An attempt to serve a warrant on a wanted suspect led to a SWAT standoff that forced police to shut down a stretch of a Logan Heights street Friday morning. The suspect is thought to be holed up in a residence on Ocean View Boulevard west of 28th Street, San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez said. “We believe there are two people inside, and both are considered to be armed and dangerous,” Martinez said. The standoff started about 9 a.m. Police have shut down Ocean View from South Evans Street to South 28th Street, he said. They’ve also shut down Sampson Street at Harrison Avenue. ....
The Daily Telegram TECUMSEH Two years ago Thursday, Jan Fox was wondering what she was going to do about her Easter flower orders after fire destroyed the historic house in downtown Tecumseh where she and her husband had their businesses. Now, Grey Fox Floral is coming off a good Easter weekend for flower sales and Jan and Gary Fox are enjoying the new home for their businesses, which they built on the site of the old place at 116 S. Evans St., a half-block south of Chicago Boulevard. The flower shop, along with Gary Fox’s coin shop, Tecumseh Coins, and Michigan Wares, their business featuring about 30 local crafters, artists, authors and musicians, moved into their new home on Jan. 4. ....
Tecumseh City Council passes industrial hemp zoning ordinance The Daily Telegram TECUMSEH City officials in Tecumseh now have a tool that will allow them to control where industrial hemp facilities are located in the city and their operation. The city council on Monday voted 7-0 to approve an amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance to make industrial hemp facilities a special land use in areas of the city zoned for industrial use, or I-1. Those places in the city zoned I-1 are the area of the former Tecumseh Products Co. from East Cummins Street to Russell Road plus some lots on the west side of South Evans Street, on the east side of South Maumee Street and across East Cummins Street from the former Products parking lot; the industrial park along Industrial Drive south of Russell Road, the Kirchhoff Automotive plant property on East Chicago Boulevard; and the south end of Meyers-Diver s Airport. ....
