Evergreen State Fair to return to Monroe this year The Evergreen State Fair will return this year after being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Credit: KINGTV Author: KING 5 Staff Updated: 1:31 PM PDT May 13, 2021 MONROE, Wash. Snohomish County announced plans Thursday for the return of the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe. The 2020 Evergreen State Fair was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 11-day fair will run from August 26-31 and September 2-6 at the Evergreen State Fair Park. The fair will be closed on September 1. The theme of this year’s fair is “Back in the Saddle Again – Open for Fun in 2021.” Organizers said the theme is a “cheerful metaphor of dusting oneself off after the challenging ride that was 2020, and the anticipation of reuniting members of the community and fans of the Fair after making it through 2020 together.”

County leaders say COVID-19 case rates remain flat, are hopeful to remain in Phase 3

County leaders say COVID-19 case rates remain flat, are hopeful to remain in Phase 3 Posted: May 11, 2021 Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers said COVID-19 case rates remain stable. Snohomish County leaders said during a May 11 briefing that due to stable COVID-19 case rates they are hopeful the county will be able to remain in Phase 3 of the Healthy Washington: Roadmap to Recovery reopening plan when Gov. Jay Inslee’s statewide two-week pause on counties’ phase movement is expected to end next week. “Given that our numbers appear to be flat and not increasing I think that’s good news,” Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers said. “I can’t speak for the governor’s office obviously, but I would expect that at this point hopefully the pause will continue and we can continue on this flat trajectory and hopefully start seeing the curve go down.”

Snohomish County COVID rates appear to be stabilizing as vaccines ramp up A drive-thru vaccination site in Snohomish County. (KIRO 7) Snohomish County health experts are feeling hopeful as a fourth wave of cases and hospitalizations appears to have leveled off. “Our case rate is stable at 227 cases per 100,000 residents,” Snohomish County Health Officer Dr. Chris Spitters said during a Tuesday briefing. The county’s case and hospitalization rates are both roughly on par with what it saw toward the end of April, indicating that neither are growing substantially anymore. About 60% of eligible county residents have gotten one dose of the vaccine, and roughly 43% of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
