Painted swastikas reported in Edmonds, Tulalip May 7, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail EDMONDS, Wash. (AP) Police say they responded to two separate reports of painted swastikas in Edmonds and Tulalip in the last week. A joint statement from Executive Dave Somers and the Snohomish County Council said people must stand united against any people or groups that will use hate symbols, hate speech, or hate crimes to intimidate or harm members of the community.

COVID briefing: Sigh of relief as Snohomish County gets rollback reprieve

MY EDMONDS NEWS Posted: May 4, 2021 73 Snohomish County gets a reprieve. There is no rollback to Phase 2 COVID restrictions for the county; in fact, no rollbacks statewide.  That’s the news from Gov. Jay Inslee, who says all counties will stay where they are for the next two weeks. That means shopping, dining, outdoor recreation all stays where it is; we are holding in what is our new normal.” “Absolutely, we’re breathing a sigh of relief,” County Executive Dave Somers told reporters at this week’s COVID briefing Tuesday. “The pause is very helpful.” The county learned of the reprieve just before the governor made his announcement. That pause comes after state health officials ran the numbers, which show the fourth wave of coronavirus infection “appears to be at a plateau.” Inslee said.

County COVID briefing: As numbers continue to rise, return to Phase 2 likely next week

MY EDMONDS NEWS Posted: April 27, 2021 The recently rising case rates in Snohomish County have now surpassed the phase 3 threshold. The weekly COVID media briefing from Snohomish County officials was marked by a growing concern over the county’s stubbornly rising numbers of case rates and hospitalizations, the two critical metrics used by Gov. Inslee’s office to determine which reopening phase will be operative. On March 11 Inslee rolled out the revamped Roadmap to Recovery program, initially placing all Washington counties in Phase 3, the least restrictive category. For large counties like Snohomish (more than 50,000 residents) to remain in Phase 3, they must keep a 14-day average of new COVID cases at or below 200 per 100,000 residents, and a seven-day average of new hospitalizations per 100,000 at five or fewer. Smaller counties are subject to a slightly different set of measures as shown in the chart below.
