Jacksonville University’s 2021 commencement ceremonies May 8-9 will feature keynote speakers with credentials in the law, finance, health care and fine arts. “We are honored to have such esteemed national leadership joining us for this important weekend. We know that students, invited guests and families look forward to commencement for years, and as a university, we are doing our best to celebrate the importance of this milestone, while still incorporating the appropriate safety protocols,” JU President Tim Cost said in a news release. Jacksonville University and its Davis College of Business announced April 7 the Zimmerman Scholars Program, a venture that connects scholarship recipients with leadership development opportunities. MAJOR, 50 University of Miami, Miami When Major joined the faculty of the University of Miami in 2019, it was a homecoming for the associate professor of professional practice. Major was born and raised in Miami, and his late mother worked in child care at the university, where he would head when his school day finished. “When I would get out of elementary school, I would spend my time running around that campus,” he says. Now he’s teaching management and strategy classes in UM’s MBA program, where he takes an interactive approach in the classroom. “I make participation a huge part of my classes,” he says. “When it comes to strategy, it’s not black and white. There is so much in terms of gray areas, so talking through that is hugely important.” ....
