[email protected] GLOVERSVILLE Gloversville Middle School’s progress last school year towards erasing its identification by the state Education Department was stymied by the coronavirus pandemic and students are facing new setbacks in the disrupted learning environment, according to Principal Mark Batty. Under the Every Student Succeeds Act, the federal law over K-12 public education requiring states to hold public schools accountable for student achievement, the state Education Department has designated the middle school as a Comprehensive Support and Improvement school. A CSI designated school is described as a school that “struggled to prepare all of their students with some or all indicators of success.” ....
[email protected] GLOVERSVILLE The state Education Department has approved the Gloversville Enlarged School District’s energy performance contract with Siemens Industry Inc. allowing work on the energy saving project to begin this spring. Superintendent David Halloran reported to the Board of Education on Monday that the state has signed off on the district’s energy performance contract with Siemens. The school board originally authorized the execution of an energy performance contract with Siemens in April 2019 after the company performed a comprehensive energy audit of the district’s facilities in fall 2018. The energy audit informed the project subsequently developed by Siemens aimed at reducing operational and utility costs, replacing or upgrading existing equipment, improving facility infrastructure, enhancing revenue and reducing the district’s carbon footprint. ....

But Gloversville Middle School and Gloversville High School are now closed to in-person learning through the end of the week while staff members quarantine following new coronavirus cases. All schools in the Gloversville Enlarged School District shifted to fully-remote learning on Jan. 25 due to insufficient staffing levels caused by quarantines and “out of an abundance of caution” following notifications of confirmed coronavirus cases across district buildings. ....
