His body was found over the weekend in a swamp, authorities said. The body of 70-year-old David Vowell, a murder suspect considered armed and dangerous, was found over the weekend not far from where two duck hunters were shot to death in rural Tennessee, authorities said. A massive search had been underway for Vowell in the Reelfoot Lake area of Obion County. He had been charged with first-degree murder in last week s shooting deaths of Chance Black, 26, and Zachary Grooms, 25, according to arrest warrants. ....

Authorities had been looking for David Vowell, as a person of interest, after duck hunters Chance Black, and Zachery Grooms, were found dead at the north end of the Obion County lake. USA Today reported that Jeffrey Crabtree, who was hunting with Black and Grooms, told investigators that Vowell drove his boat to the trio’s blind, knocked on the door and shot Grooms when he opened the door. Black was also shot before Crabtree wrestled the gun from Vowell and hit Vowell in the face with the butt end of the weapon, knocking him temporarily unconscious. ....
Investigators did not immediately say how Vowell died. (Tennessee Bureau of Investigation) Obion County District Attorney Tommy Thomas told WREG-TV last week amid the manhunt that investigators have spoken to a third hunter who was in the same duck blind as the victims when the incident occurred. However, Thomas said he could not comment on what led to the shooting. Vowell appeared to have fled the scene on foot as investigators told news outlets that a vehicle and a boat belonging to the suspect were seized near the boat ramp at the lake. Authorities charged Vowell with two counts of first-degree murder as the search, aided by U.S. Marshalls, intensified. ....
