The platform combines Synaptics’ proven low power SoC architecture with energy-efficient AI software, enabled by a partnership with Eta Compute. Westlake Village tech firm Eta Compute Inc. has raised $12.5 million in a Series C round led by Synaptics Inc. in San Jose, the company announced Tuesday. Eta, founded in 2015, makes artificial intelligence systems for use in spatial sensors. It specializes in energy efficient “edge AI,” or when machine learning algorithms process data collected by a hardware device without being connected to the internet. This is applied in motion and environmental sensing and image and audio analytics. Along with the investment from Synaptics, Eta has entered a co-development and marketing partnership with the company, which makes human interface products such as touchpads for laptops and touch and voice technology for smart home devices and smart cars. ....
