That happened when the club held its luncheon meeting at the Sycamore Youth and Community Center where the club has resumed its weekly noon luncheon and business meetings. Kiwanians brought office employees to the event initiated in the past by the late William Croskey. Club President Ted Gorman welcomed members and guests, who were presented on their arrival with a corsage from Kiwanian and event organizer Phyllis Riccadonna. ....

STEUBENVILLE The Steubenville Kiwanis Club is back on track with weekly luncheon meetings, gathering at noon on Tuesdays at the Sycamore Youth Center, located at 301 N. Fourth St. The March 9 meeting the first in-person one for the club since COVID-19-related restrictions went into place a year ago attracted a turnout of more than 30 members and guests. ....
Contributed After a lengthy hiatus because of coronavirus pandemic precautions and restrictions in place, the Kiwanis Club of Steubenville plans to resume in-person luncheon meetings with the first gathering set for March 9. It will be held at noon in a new location the Sycamore Youth Center at 301 N. Fourth St., Steubenville. The meeting announcement by club President Ted Gorman came in an e-mail news message to members. The weekly Tuesday noon luncheon meetings will be held in the basement of the center. The guest speaker will be state Rep. Ron Ferguson, R-Wintersville. There also will be a brief business meeting. Social distancing will be observed and masks worn. Those planning to attend should RSVP by March 5 to [email protected]. Contributed The Kiwanis Club of Steubenville was not able to throw its traditional Christmas party for first-graders at East Elementary (Garfield) in Steubenville but provided a modified version for this year’s festivities, still delivering sweatshirts, pencils, crayons and erasers to the pupils. Normally the Christmas fun includes a pizza party where Steubenville High School Key Club members sponsored by the Kiwanis help serve the lunch and then there’s a program presented by the Good Zoo at Oglebay, featuring an introduction to some unusual animals the children get to pet. “We canceled the lunch and the zoo due to COVID concerns, but we didn’t want the kids to go without their sweatshirts and school supplies,” explained Kiwanis Treasurer-Secretary Tom Timmons.
