Champlain shows massive increase in incomplete classes; Bishop’s, not so much 14 January 2021 at 18 h 00 min Reading time: 1 min By David Rossiter, Special to The Record This past fall at Champlain College Lennoxville, 285 students had their request to receive a grade of “permanent incomplete” in a course granted. This is over ten times higher than the same period in 2019. A permanent incomplete (IN) means that a student would not receive any credit for the course and their overall “R-score” would not be affected. This option is exercised by “a student who has been unable to complete a course due to reasons beyond his or her control,” according to the school’s policy on the evaluation of student achievement. ....
Contributed The Kiwanis Club of Steubenville was not able to throw its traditional Christmas party for first-graders at East Elementary (Garfield) in Steubenville but provided a modified version for this year’s festivities, still delivering sweatshirts, pencils, crayons and erasers to the pupils. Normally the Christmas fun includes a pizza party where Steubenville High School Key Club members sponsored by the Kiwanis help serve the lunch and then there’s a program presented by the Good Zoo at Oglebay, featuring an introduction to some unusual animals the children get to pet. “We canceled the lunch and the zoo due to COVID concerns, but we didn’t want the kids to go without their sweatshirts and school supplies,” explained Kiwanis Treasurer-Secretary Tom Timmons.
