Punch Newspapers Sections Published 21 May 2021 The Director General of the Industrial Training Fund, Joseph Ari, on Thursday said the organisation has empowered 11,100 youths with technical skills through the 2020 National Industry Skills Development Programme. He said the aim of the programme was to tackle unemployment and poverty in the country. Ari spoke at the graduation of the programme’s trainees in Abuja. He said, “The 2020 National Industrial Skills Development Programme which was conducted by the Industrial Training Fund amidst the COVID-19 pandemic was part of our efforts to provide Nigerians with technical skills for job and wealth creation. “There were 300 beneficiaries in each state; multiply it by 37, the number of states in the country.” ....

Seriki Adinoyi in Jos The federal government has given reasons the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) is rated by the Presidency as the foremost agency of government at the forefront of government’s job and wealth creation. It said the Fund has done well in assisting government’s efforts to lift the country out of poverty and unemployment. The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adeniyi Adebayo, who disclosed this in Jos, at the 2020 ITF Merit Award ceremony at the weekend, therefore urged the ITF management not to relent in empowering Nigerians with technical skills, but to train more Nigerians and by so doing etch the name of the ITF in gold. ....
The Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Joseph Ari, says Nigeria recovered from the recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic through the laudable economic policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. Ari explained that the ITF supported Buhari’s efforts by providing requisite skills using its acquisition programmes that helped most Nigerians recover their sources of livelihood. Ari disclosed this on Wednesday during the Fund’s 2020 annual performance review meeting held at the ITF headquarters in Jos.
