Mired in a four-game losing streak against Birmingham where the Barons had scored 37 runs in those four victories, somebody needed to step up in a big way to stop the bleeding and somehow make something good happen for the local team. The hard-throwing righty was more than equal to the task as he pitched seven scoreless innings where he scattered four hits, struck out eight and walked none. ....

The throw was close, but the Lookout’s star player was called out by the first-base umpire. Cedrola slammed his helmet down in disgust, the protective equipment thrown with such force that it bounced into the sky like a basketball. The umpire ejected Cedrola, and the centerfielder didn t stop walking until he got back to the clubhouse. ....

If he could reach second, the Lookouts would have a player in scoring position and perhaps some new life. But as he slid, his cleats must have got stuck in the dirt. His slide came up just a bit short, and the Lookout catcher was tagged out. The entire Lookout offense seemed stuck in the dirt until too late in their Tuesday 3-0 loss to the Birmingham Barons. ....
