Heartbreaking Defeat: Lookouts Lose Fourth Straight To Barons

Heartbreaking Defeat: Lookouts Lose Fourth Straight Two Bases-Loaded Walks The Difference As Birmingham Wins, 7-6 Friday, July 23, 2021 - by John Hunt The Chattanooga Lookouts came into Friday night’s game with the Birmingham Barons on a three-game losing streak, dropping those games by not-so-close scores of 3-0, 17-9 and 10-5. A fourth straight defeat was much closer.  For all practical purposes, the Lookouts should have won before 4,615 fans, but unfortunately, close doesn’t count in AA baseball. The Barons took over first place in the Double-A South’s Northern Division with Friday’s 7-6 win, the winning runs scoring in the eighth inning on a pair of bases-loaded walks.  Birmingham is now 38-31 while the Lookouts are now 36-31.

Barons Drop Lookouts, 3-0, Locals Remain In First By Two Games

Barons Drop Lookouts, 3-0, Locals Remain In First By Two Games Wednesday, July 21, 2021 - by Joseph Dycus The Lookouts Robbie Tenerwicz, left, is tagged out at the plate by tBirmingham s Carlos Perez. Chattanooga fell to to the Barons by a 3-0 score Tuesday night at AT&T Field. - photo by Glen Austin Filling in for Olympian Mark Kolozsvary, catcher Jay Schuyler was tearing down the basepaths on a steal attempt. If he could reach second, the Lookouts would have a player in scoring position and perhaps some new life. But as he slid, his cleats must have got stuck in the dirt. His slide came up just a bit short, and the Lookout catcher was tagged out. The entire Lookout offense seemed stuck in the dirt until too late in their Tuesday 3-0 loss to the Birmingham Barons.
