A TOWN is launching its first art workshops this week as part of a series of taster sessions for people in the community. This weekend Kirkby Lonsdale CIC (Kirkby Lonsdale Community Interest Company) is launching the first two workshops in the new Phoenix Rising art taster workshop programme with Melling visual arts organisation, Green Close. The workshops will take place online, offering the community a safe space to be creative, socialise and learn something new. Gratitude Gallery, a smartphone photography workshop led by artist Ginny Koppenhol, and Myths & Legends, a mapmaking workshop led by illustrator Kremena Dimitrova, will take place this Friday and Sunday. ....
Free art and wellbeing workshops launch in Kirkby Lonsdale Free art and wellbeing taster workshops will be held in Kirkby Lonsdale this week. Kirkby Lonsdale Community Interest Company is working with Melling visual arts organisation Green Close to launch the workshops as part of a new programme called Phoenix Rising. The Phoenix Rising programme is one of only 37 organisations nationally to have received a Thriving Communities grant from the National Academy for Social Prescribing, Arts Council England, Natural England and Historic England. The initiative will give locals the opportunity to socialise and recharge in a safe creative space as lockdown restrictions ease. ....
CELEBRATING: Carnforth Town comes together to decorate their town as Christmas approaches Kirkby Lonsdale and Carnforth have covered their town with Christmas lights to bring in the spirit of the season this year. ‘The Carnforth Steps into the Light’ project was born out of the town’s partnership with Carnforth Business Network (CBN) and supported by a successful bid for funding with Lancaster City Council. CELEBRATING: Carnforth Town comes together to decorate their town as Christmas approaches The CBN, installed lighting in the War Memorial Gardens, along Market Street, New Street and parts of Lancaster Road and Scotland Road.
