Worcestershire still has several Covid hotspots despite cases falling by quarter

SEVERAL parts of the county remain Covid hotspots despite case numbers falling by more than a quarter in a week.
The number of cases recorded in Worcestershire dropped by more than a quarter in a week to 2,275.
Despite the fall in new cases across the county in the last seven days, several parts of Worcester, Bromsgrove and Redditch remain Covid hotspots on Public Health England’s coronavirus map due to higher-than-average cases.
A total of 61 cases were recorded in King George’s Field in Worcester – which covers WR3 and WR4 postcodes including parts of Astwood Road, Tolladine Road, Langdale Drive, Brickfields Road and Blackpole Road – making it the neighbourhood in the county with the highest number of cases. ....

OVERNIGHT closures and diversions will be in place in and around a route near Worcester city centre from tonight (Monday).
The closure of St John’s starts from 6pm and lasts until 5am from Monday to Friday for resurfacing works as part of Worcestershire County Council’s improvement scheme.

BLUE RIDGE, Ga – Fannin County prepared for a new administration on Thursday, December 17 when several county officials took their oath of office.
For Fannin County Board of Commissioners, it’s quite literally a new administration with two-thirds of the commission changing over. The new Chairman Jamie Hensley took his oath on a family bible that his mother gave to his dad for their 20
th anniversary. The date in the bible was also December 17.
He also spoke about his father being with him throughout the day. Hensley’s dad who passed away 18 years ago, sometimes his spirit leaves 11 cents for the family to find. On Thursday, Hensley went into work and found 11 cents, and later his mother-in-law also found 11 cents. ....

BLUE RIDGE, Ga – Board members Chad Galloway, Terry Bramlett, and Lewis DeWeese were sworn in by Appalachian Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge John E. Worcester to serve out their new board of education terms. Each incumbent member won reelection in November.
Worcester thanked the school system for inviting him to the night’s meeting.
“I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the Fannin County School System for a long time,” Worcester said, “This system has been known for strong leadership, a strong core of teachers, the reputation of being innovative and creative. When I was asked if I would be willing to administer the oath of office to three board members, I was actually very honored to participate in this.” ....
