ELLIJAY, Ga. – Among the final acts for Gilmer County’s government in 2020 comes the official swearing in for elected positions. Now that the local elections have long since completed and been finalized, these officials are preparing to take office as soon as January 1, 2021, now that they have been sworn in.

While many positions were re-elections like Hubert Parker moving from the special elected term to fill in for the remaining term of former Commissioner Dallas Miller, others are fresh faces in new positions like Gilmer Magistrate Judge Kevin Johnson. ....

BLUE RIDGE, Ga – Fannin County prepared for a new administration on Thursday, December 17 when several county officials took their oath of office.
For Fannin County Board of Commissioners, it’s quite literally a new administration with two-thirds of the commission changing over. The new Chairman Jamie Hensley took his oath on a family bible that his mother gave to his dad for their 20
th anniversary. The date in the bible was also December 17.
He also spoke about his father being with him throughout the day. Hensley’s dad who passed away 18 years ago, sometimes his spirit leaves 11 cents for the family to find. On Thursday, Hensley went into work and found 11 cents, and later his mother-in-law also found 11 cents. ....
