News January 7, 2021 , by Staff Writer As you may know, our area is under a “winter storm warning” until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow (Friday). Although current weather forecasts for our area vary somewhat, all seem confident that falling temperatures and mixed precipitation will occur overnight and continue through Friday morning. Members of the district leadership team and I have been out on our area roads this evening, and snow is already falling in the higher elevations of Fannin County. The safety of our students and staff is always the top concern; therefore, Fannin County Schools will be closed tomorrow (Friday), January 8. ....

Worcester to serve out their new board of education terms. Each incumbent member won reelection in November. Worcester thanked the school system for inviting him to the night’s meeting. “I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the Fannin County School System for a long time,” Worcester said, “This system has been known for strong leadership, a strong core of teachers, the reputation of being innovative and creative. When I was asked if I would be willing to administer the oath of office to three board members, I was actually very honored to participate in this.” ....
BLUE RIDGE, Ga – The following is an alert from Fannin County Schools” “As you may know, Fannin County is currently under a “winter weather advisory.” Some forecasts indicate that the higher elevations in our area (>2,000 feet) may have freezing rain overnight and early tomorrow morning. Out of an abundance of caution, the Fannin County School System will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, December 16. Please plan for a two-hour delayed start of school Wednesday morning. This two-hour delay includes all bus routes, as well as the times that parents may drop off children at school on Wednesday morning. Also, be advised that breakfast will not be served, and the schools will dismiss at regular time on Wednesday afternoon. ....
