Community vaccine questions: Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln was voted into office in November 2020 and began his term in January of this year. Lincoln was born in Stockton and raised in an army family. He joined the US Marine Corps in 2001 and was recruited by the White House Military Office and assigned to Marine One. After finishing his service and working in the private industry, Lincoln resigned from his corporate job and began to serve the Stockton community full-time as an executive administrative pastor for a local church before running for mayor. 1. Why should people get vaccinated? My belief is that if we would like to return to some level of normal, reverse the economic and psychological impact, then the community needs to achieve herd immunity. The quickest way to achieve that is by getting nearly everyone vaccinated. 2. Why do you think people are not getting vaccinated? Have community members said they don’t want to get vaccinated? And for what reasons? I do ask my patients if they have received the vaccine yet and most have been vaccinated. I don’t ask “why they haven’t?” but they often volunteer their thoughts. Of the patients that haven’t, they prefer to wait until it receives full approval from the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Some have chosen to wait because of concerns on the side effects that they have heard from friends and a few are based on social media (some valid and others still believe it is a hoax).
