Rematch! No.4 East Central to clash with No.6 BNL – WBIW

December 31, 2020 BNL’s Jenna Louden and East Central’s Josie Trabel will collide again when the No.4 Trojans invade BNL Fieldhouse for a rematch with the No.6 Stars on Saturday afternoon. By Justin Sokeland WBIW.com BEDFORD – When Kevin Moore took control of struggling East Central in 2009, rebuilding a program that had won only 39 games in the nine previous seasons, he selected Bedford North Lawrence as one of the success models to mimic. That’s quite an example target. But after 12 years, after winning their first sectional title since 1992, the Trojans are closing the gap to equal terms, missing just one main piece of the resume – a victory over the Stars.

McKnight the torch as Stars burn down 2A No.1 Linton in Classic final – WBIW

December 22, 2020 BNL senior Chloe McKnight attacks the basket in transition. McKnight hit 9 treys and scored 29 points as the 4A No.6 Stars conquered Linton 60-45 in the Limestone Classic final on Tuesday night. By Justin Sokeland WBIW.com BEDFORD – That distinct sizzling sound, like the crackling of bacon on a Saturday morning, like the burning of wood in the fireplace on a cold winter night, was radiating from Chloe McKnight. Bedford North Lawrence’s senior super shooter, with the flick of her right wrist, became basketball’s version of the Human Torch, on fire and fantastic. Her flames burned down the state’s best Class 2A team.

BNL's defensive avalanche buries Eastern Pekin 68-30 – WBIW

December 22, 2020 BNL freshman Chloe Spreen attacks Eastern Pekin’s defense. Spreen scored 17 points as the Stars slammed the Musketeers 68-30 in the opening round of the Limestone Classic on Tuesday morning. By Justin Sokeland WBIW.com BEDFORD – Like an avalanche, starting with the collapse of a weak underlying layer, Bedford North Lawrence smothered and destroyed with a defense that became more deadly the more it plowed ahead. Forcing turnovers at the accumulative rate of a heavy snowstorm, the Class 4A No.6 Stars overwhelmed Eastern Pekin the first round of the Limestone Classic on Tuesday morning. The Class 2A No.9 Musketeers were guilty of 32 turnovers as BNL, quickly aware of that weakness, roared away to a 68-30 victory. Chloe Spreen scored 17 points and Irye Gomez added 16 as BNL advanced to the final to face 2A No.1 Linton (12-0). The Miners conquered Heritage Christian 61-47 in the second game.

Eastern Pekin replaces Forest Park in Limestone Classic at BNL – WBIW

December 21, 2020 BNL senior Jenna Louden and the 4A No.7 Stars will face Forest Park in the morning round of the Limestone Classic on Tuesday. By Justin Sokeland WBIW.com BEDFORD – Anyone who has walked through the hallway where the state championship team photos adorn the walls, anyone who has stared up at the banners waving softly in the northeast corner of BNL Fieldhouse, knows the impact of Austin “Pete” Pritchett. He’s the Godfather of Bedford North Lawrence basketball, the Hall of Fame coach, the giant gentleman who directed the Stars to two state championships and established the program as one of Indiana’s best. Everything linked to the tradition of BNL centers on the bear of a man who towered over his kids and demanded their best.
