The Laredo International Airport has announced that Mexican airline, Aeromar, will be adding a fourth weekly Mexico City nonstop flight to its current offering.
Effective on Saturday, June 5, 2021, the additional flight will depart Mexico City International Airport at 8 a.m. and arrive at Laredo International Airport at 10:40 a.m. The return flight will depart from LRD at 11:35 AM and arrive in MEX at 2:10 p.m., enabling convenient connections to a wide array of domestic and international destinations. Tickets are now available for purchase at aeromar.mx. Through the Aeromar website, all interested travelers can learn more about COVID-19 related safety guidelines. ....

Nine United ISD campuses have been affected by a water line break on Monday, forcing the school district to dismiss all students and staff members at the campuses due to low water pressure. 
The affected schools, according to a UISD press release are:
LBJ High School
Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle School
Los Obispos Middle School
Perez Elementary School
Notice is being sent to parents with children at school to pick up their students. All fourth-grade students who were scheduled to take the STAAR exam will be rescheduled to take the test on Friday at its regularly scheduled time, a social media post by the district states. ....

One year later, Laredo has finally started to see the light of the end of the tunnel as it comes to the coronavirus pandemic.
March 16 marked the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus, and since that fateful day, Laredoans have experienced a year that could never have been imagined. Schools, parks and nonessential businesses were shuttered, and friends and families were forced to socially distance in respect to a deadly virus whose effects were not truly known at the time.
While much more is known about its spread and vaccines have begun to make their way into the arms of Laredoans, the physical and psychological effects of the virus and the resulting pandemic will be felt for many months, maybe years, into the future. ....
