Nine United ISD campuses have been affected by a water line break on Monday, forcing the school district to dismiss all students and staff members at the campuses due to low water pressure.
The affected schools, according to a UISD press release are:
LBJ High School
Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle School
Los Obispos Middle School
Perez Elementary School
Notice is being sent to parents with children at school to pick up their students. All fourth-grade students who were scheduled to take the STAAR exam will be rescheduled to take the test on Friday at its regularly scheduled time, a social media post by the district states. ....

Before students and staff take their much-needed breaks this holiday season, UISD campuses have found the time to give gifts to students and celebrate their accomplishments.
On Friday, United Middle School held a celebratory drive-thru event that highlighted and recognized 490 students who met their reading challenges. The district stated that the students were tasked with reading a fiction and non-fiction book and writing a book report for both.
“Part of our job as librarians and teachers is to promote a lifelong love of learning in our students,” United Middle School’s Selika Salinas said. “This is important to us because comprehensive reading skills continue to be important for students in the 21st cen ....
