VIC Premier The Andrews Labor Government has delivered new flexible safety barriers, creating a more reliable journey for thousands of drivers travelling along a major road in Melbourne’s south east. Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll said works to install life-saving barriers along Thompson Road between the Mornington Peninsula Freeway and Narre Warren Road builds on improvements delivered last year through the Labor Government’s Thompsons Road Upgrade. While roadside barriers were already in place along some road sections, new barriers have been installed on the centre median and left-hand side will provide a safer journey by reducing the risk of head-on and run-off-road crashes. ....
VIC Premier Hundreds of Victorians have gathered at Albert Park Lake today to remember Victorians who have lost their lives on our roads, and support people impacted by road trauma. Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll today joined the Andrews Labor Government’s road safety partners for the annual Shine A Light on Road Safety walk, which sees more than 400 people walk five kilometres around Albert Park Lake each year to raise money for road trauma support and honour Victorian lives that have been affected by road trauma. Already this year, 80 people have died on Victoria’s roads – and hundreds more lives have been changed forever. Road Trauma Support Services Victoria, supported by the Transport Accident Commission, plays a vital role in supporting Victorians whose lives have been profoundly affected by road trauma get back on track. ....
Bicycle Network A coalition of 13 walking, bike riding, transport, health and research groups are urging the Victorian Government to make it easier for people to walk and ride as more Victorians return to working onsite. The coalition has released the Streets are for everyone consensus statement, which outlines three clear and practical steps needed to create vibrant, active and connected communities in a COVID-normal Victoria.
