Black Hawks Finish 3 Game Weekend With a Shoot Out Win Over Omaha
It was a wild weekend for the Black Hawks with three games covering every edge of the emotional spectrum. From a heart-breaking loss on Friday night at Omaha, to a crazy game at Des Moines Saturday night where over 120 minutes in penalties were called, followed by an exhilarating shoot-out victory over the Lancers on Sunday afternoon in Party Town.
SUNDAY VS OMAHA
Former Omaha Lancer, Alex Gaffney started and finished a 4-3 shootout victory versus his ex-team, pushing the Black Hawks past the Lancers Sunday at Young Arena. In a thrilling finish, Gaffney snuck the puck past the Omaha goalie on a back-hander to bring Black Hawks fans to their feet in celebration (see the video below).

SATURDAY NIGHT
The Black Hawks closed out a weekend series against the Musketeers with a 4-1 Saturday night win in Party Town. The contest was also the sixth and final game between the teams during the 2020/21 regular season schedule; Waterloo claimed four out of the six. And that s probably a good thing, because the teams appear to be growing tired of each other, as evidenced by the three fights on Saturday night.

According the team s game re-cap; Sioux City recorded their only goal of the first period. However, in the 2nd period, the game-tying goal came when Max Sasson shoveled the puck toward the top of the crease, and Kyler Kleven redirected it in with one hand on his stick. Then Sasson scored the go-ahead goal just before the intermission. He pulled a rebound away from the side of the Sioux City net, taking a step back, before lifting a sharp-angled chance under the crossbar.

TUESDAY NIGHT VS. OMAHA
According to a team game re-cap, the Lancers scored the game-winning goal during their seventh power play of the night. In overtime, a loose puck came to Nolan Renwick in the left circle, and he lifted a shot inside the post beating the Black Hawks goalie Charlie Glockner. O’Hara scored once in each period. Trailing 3-2, O Hara redirected a Jonah Copre shot into the net. O Hara also struck early in the game, for the game’s first goal not quite five minutes into the opening period. Matt Argentina saw O’Hara coming up the slot and put a pass on target. O’Hara snapped the puck over the left shoulder of the league’s leading goaltender, Jakub Dobes. And in the 2nd period, Max Sasson tried a shot that was batted down by an Omaha player and it came right to O’Hara as he stepped from behind the net beating Dobes.
