Closing arguments in trial for convicted sex offender accused of touching 11-year-old girl Darius Knight (Source: Erie County Jail) By Julia Bingel | April 14, 2021 at 10:56 AM EDT - Updated April 14 at 10:56 AM ERIE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Closing arguments will be heard Wednesday afternoon in the jury trial for a convicted sex offender facing charges of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old girl. The trial for Darius Knight started on April 6 in front of Erie County Common Pleas Judge Roger Binette. Knight is charged with kidnapping, importuning, gross sexual imposition and unlawful restraint. Sandusky police said Knight touched an 11-year-old girl who showed up at his Barker Street home in August 2019 collecting money for charity. ....

According to Tamms Fire Department Captain Williams, the building is a total loss. Tammese Arnold, the owner of the business, said it was âdevastating when we found out what happened.â According to Arnold, the lounge was the last business in the community and had been in her family for 50 years. ....

The Pirates’ week started on Monday with a road game at Brown City. They traveled to Capac on Wednesday for a game against the Chiefs. That’s a lot of miles on a school bus. Harbor Beach then wrapped up the week on Friday night with a home game against Sandusky and ran its winning streak to eight in a row with a 41-24 victory over the Redskins. Harbor Beach is now 8-1 overall and 8-0 in conference play. ....

The Bearcats are now 5-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Ubly head coach Joel Leipprandt attributed his team’s improved play to changes the Bearcats have made since the start of the season. “The girls are adjusting to their new roles and our overall energy has been improving every game,” Leipprandt said. “Our offensive timing is getting better, as well.” Leading the way for the Bearcats on Monday night were Dajnae Leipprandt with 17 points, Josie Gusa with 9, Madeline Langenburg with 8, Kylie Maurer and Hally Zeihm with 5 each and Hailey Mausolf with 4. ....
