Family Visitor Programs names Andrew Romanoff as executive director


Swanson served as the nonprofit’s executive director for 34 of its 38 years.
The agency provides home visitation services to pregnant women and to parents of young children residing in the Aspen to Parachute region and is headquartered in Glenwood Springs.
The agency also provides the Personal Responsibility Education Program, using an evidence-based curriculum to prevent teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, the release states.
Romanoff served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 2001 to 2009.
He was Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2010, losing to incumbent Michael Bennet in the primary election.
His 2014 bid for Colorado’s 6th congressional district in 2014, losing to incumbent Republican Mike Coffman. Romanoff made a second run for the U.S. Senate in 2020, losing to former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. ....

Unanimous Colorado House sends to-go drink bill to the Senate


Colorado’s legislature is one step closer to passing a bill that will put “common consumption areas” and to-go cocktails permanently into state law.
The Colorado House of Representatives Wednesday unanimously passed House Bill 21, which will essentially continue liquor rules imposed in 2020 via an executive order by Gov. Jared Polis.
That order is set to expire July 1, and bar and restaurant owners throughout the state had lobbied to make the rule changes permanent. That required legislative action.

Colorado Democrats' new election bill focuses on recalls


Since Colorado is largely reliant on ballot drop boxes, there are changes specifically for ballot drop boxes.
The bill would restrict future drop boxes from being located at police stations or sheriff s substations.
I think that there s some concerns from some voters and various stakeholder groups, where they have a history of their communities not trusting their police, and I think that s where that concern comes from, said Matt Crane, Executive Director of the Colorado County Clerks Association.
Crane, a former Republican Arapahoe County Clerk & Recorder, pointed out that some of the most popular drop boxes are currently outside law enforcement.
