ACC was in the large-budget category and ranked in the top five of fundraisers in that category. The amount raised by entities has not been announced. Bravo to the Jamestown High School girls basketball team for making it to the state tournament this week. The Blue Jays defeated Mandan 66-53 to advance to the tournament. ....
SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jimmies women’s basketball team pushed #7 Morningside to the brink of elimination on Wednesday night before eventually falling 84-75 to the Mustangs. Sophomore Kia Tower tied her career-high point total as she finished with 25 for Jamestown on 10-18 shooting. Macy Savela had another big game off the bench for the Jimmies, and the consistent three-point threat dropped in 16 on five made threes. Hannah DeMars also finished in double figures, putting up 15 points and five rebounds. Morningside was the regular-season champion in the GPAC, and the Mustangs have now won 18 straight games. Sierra Mitchell scored a game-high 27 points in the win for Morningside. ....
WOMEN’S: UJ 75, Dakota Wesleyan 69 The Jimmies used major production from Kia Tower and Emma Stoehr, as well as Macy Savela off the bench, to take down the Tigers. Tower played a team-high 37 minutes, scoring 23 points on 9-18 shooting for the day. Stoehr had great success at the free-throw line, with 14 points on 7-10 from the line. Savela was on fire from downtown once again, scoring 16 points off of 5-7 shooting on the afternoon. The Jimmies end the regular season with a 15-10 overall record, 12-10 in the conference. Jamestown will travel to #7 Morningside on Wednesday at 6:00 pm to open up the GPAC tournament. ....
JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team hit the century mark on senior day as they defeated Midland 100-74 to win their sixth straight game. Midland got out to an initial lead in the first half of play before Marc Kjos went unconscious from three-point range, hitting 5-of-6 in the first half. Jamestown went into the break with a 10 point lead and put its foot on the gas from that point forward. Sophomore Mason Walters collected his 19th double-double of the year, scoring 21 points and snagging 15 boards. Kjos finished with 18 points and five assists. Senior Allante’ Pickens also scored in double figures, going 4-7 for 13 points and five assists. ....
SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – With 1.3 seconds to go and Jamestown down by two, Marc Kjos caught a full-court pass and then proceeded to hit a deep three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Jimmies a 72-71 victory over Briar Cliff. Kjos, a sophomore out of Lake City Minnesota, finished with a game-high 18 points on 7-12 shooting from the field. He also had five rebounds and an assist. The Jimmies were also helped by Brady Birch and Cole Woodford, who each finished with 10 points. Birch finished with a double-double, collecting 11 rebounds. Jamestown improved to 17-5 on the year, with a 13-4 record inside the GPAC. The Jimmies sit a game and a half behind Morningside for first place in the conference. Jamestown will be in action again on Saturday as they host Midland. ....
