Last year was difficult for cinemas. The COVID pandemic left theaters around the world shuttered, with film studios pivoting many movie releases to streaming services. Only a few major blockbusters made their way to the big screen – such as Tenet – while dozens of others were pushed back to 2021. Now, finally, we re going back to the cinema!

Universal Pictures International has come under fire for giving actress Laverne Cox a male voice in the Italian-language version of
Promising Young Woman. The film was released in 2020 in the U.S. and recently won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. The movie stars Carey Mulligan and Adam Brody and centers around a young woman, traumatized by a tragic event in her past, who seeks out vengeance against those who crossed her path. Cox plays a charter named Gail in the film.
Universal Pictures International has apologised after using a male actor to dub Laverne Cox's voice in the Italian-language version of Promising Young Woman.
