Information Minister-designate Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has clarified that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s recent ban on social gathering activities such as weddings, does not stop people from getting married.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah told journalists at a COVID-19 press briefing on Tuesday, 2 February 2021 that “when it comes to marriage, what the President has said is that what, in Ghana, we call wedding, the full-blown wedding where we have a big party with reception and people dancing and people eating, sitting at reception tables, etc., that is what has been banned”.
“We’ve got a lot of requests about: so what if somebody is having a church service, which is allowed, and they choose to bless their marriage there, as part of the church service? Active Covid-19 cases jump to 108 in Volta, Oti records two cases

The rate of Covid-19 infections in the Volta Region seems to have increased from 37 active cases to 108 within a week.
The latest update which DGN Online received from the Volta Regional Health Directorate also indicated that two persons have lost their lives to the deadly novel coronavirus recorded in nine out of the 18 Municipality and Districts in the region.
The Ho Municipality which is also the regional capital tops with 41 cases. This is followed by the commercial city of Hohoe with 24 cases.
South Tongu has recorded 18 cases while its neighbour, North Tongu follows closely with 17 cases. ....

Adams Mensahhe, Public Relations Officer of a salt production firm, Seven Seas Salt Limited, in Adina within the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region, has asked the government to invest in salt mining.
According to him, salt as a mineral has the potential of producing other chemicals such as soda ash, caustic soda, sodium chlorine, chlorine, hence the need to “take time to develop the salt sector”.
Speaking during a press engagement on Thursday, 21 January 2021 as part of the factory’s activities to educate the public on the importance of prioritising local businesses, he said there’s a need to identify the importance of salt. ....

Salt Company Compensates Adina, Other Communities For Loss Of Livelihood

Seven Seas Salt Mining Company (formerly Kensington Industries Ltd) operating at Adina in the Ketu South Municipality would on Tuesday, pay the community and other satellite communities affected by its operations.
Mr Elliot Edem Agbenorwu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ketu South, who disclosed this said the compensation would go to communities which make up the Company’s Adina Concession (currently developed) including; Adina, Amutinu, Salakakope, Agbevekope and Kpedzakope.
He said it would also cover the Company’s yet-to-be developed Agavedzi-Blekusu Concession comprising Agavedzi, Blekusu, Dogbekope, Sonuto, Taskcorner and Tsavanya; and a new concession, White D’Or (formerly granted to White D’Or Company) comprising Hedzranawo, Adafienu, Tetekope and Agorko. ....
