While he lost his leg in a serious crash on Yeppoon Rd last year, Des loves to joke around and tell people he lost it in a crocodile or shark attack. He even tells kids who look at him in his wheelchair when he is out and about that he lost his leg because he didn’t eat his vegetables. The Rockhampton man was riding his motorcycle on Yeppoon Road on July 29, 2020, when he was involved in a crash with a Holden Commodore at The Oaks service station intersection. ....

Launched in 2019 as hull 473, the vessel s naval architecture was designed in house by the shipyard. Her owner developed the bespoke colour scheme in collaboration with exterior designer Tim Heywood and the Amels design team, with her customised interiors from the drawing boards of Laura Sessa. Like all Amels 180 yachts, she features a large sundeck area, functional layout with excellent guest and crew separation, and a trans-oceanic range for extended voyages. ....

Monday On Monday, an empty aluminium boat floating off Keppel Sands was the trigger for a search for a possible missing occupant. At 3.58pm Keppel Sands Coast Guard was contacted by Yeppoon Coast Guard, advising that a member of the public had reported a vessel drifting fast in the strong winds. The vessel appeared to have come from Cooroman Creek and was drifting across the front of Keppel Sands. There was no sign of an occupant. ....
