The oxygen bar at Gold Tan & Sunset Spa in Mississauga has been closed since the pandemic began. It s the only type of business still required to stay closed by the Ontario government, under the province s reopening plan. 'Phone has not stopped ringing:' Demand for appointments skyrockets after AZ opened to those 40-plus

The expansion to those 40-plus comes only days after the Ontario Progressive Conservative government introduced new restrictions to combat spiking COVID-19 cases in the province.
Given the change in eligibility, the professional association for Ontario pharmacists says deliveries of vaccines will need to pick up to meet the increased demand.
“Supply of the vaccine at the provincial level being distributed to the pharmacies, given the large change in cohort, is definitely on our minds,” said Jen Baker, chair of the board of the Ontario Pharmacists Association. She added that she expects the AstraZeneca vaccine to be available for those 18 and older in the near future. ....

Data finds two-thirds of GTA workers considered essential

Under Ontario’s stay-at-home order only people in jobs considered ‘essential’ are allowed to physically go in to work.
However, the designation of ‘essential worker’ may apply to more GTA residents than one would expect.
Data analysis from the Toronto Star finds 65 per cent of workers in the GTA are doing what is considered ‘essential work.’ This amounts to over 2 million people.
‘Essential workers’ are more likely to be lower wage and immigrants to Canada and are working in production plants and factories in close quarters with little or no paid-sick leave. ....
