An explosive device was placed inside a washing machine at the back of a ute parked on Kilby Road, East Kew, just after 9pm. The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed for forensic examination. Two other incidents were also reported earlier that night. ....
Ute destroyed by explosive device in string of Melbourne blasts A string of explosions that destroyed a ute, rubbish bins and letterboxes across three Melbourne suburbs are being investigated by police. The explosions are suspected to have been set off by pipe bombs and explosive devices in Ivanhoe, East Kew and Northcote overnight. Police said an explosive device had been placed inside a washing machine on the back of a ute parked in Kilby Road about 9.10pm.
